Fat Quarterly No. 6, from Keephouse X 3rd Story Workshop is ready for the world! This edition of Fat Quarterly is a cheerful colour palette. The quilt pattern is what I call “ordered improvisational piecing” and is perfectly suited to new improv quilters. An accompanying video tutorial walks you through the block construction.
We were inspired by the resilience, timelessness, and beauty of the ginkgo tree.Did you know that it is one of the oldest species of trees? It can be traced back over 2000 years! Did you know that the ginkgo tree can pretty much survive anywhere? Including the wet and grey climate and salty conditions of Halifax.
This edition comes with some extra goodies! There is the option to add a fabric glue pen to your box. This is the method I use to baste my improv curves and it makes it a breeze.
We designed a clear sticker based on the Ginkgo fabric design in the box.
In addition, our local fabric shop, Patch Halifax, has offered a discount on your background fabric or anything else your heart desires.
Did you see the amazing quilting on the sample quilt? Melissa McIntosh (Lakeside Longarmer) has offered a discount on longarming services. You’ll find the promo code in the box!
The sample pattern uses Kona Seafoam for the background (we recommend Essex Yarn-Dyed Linen in Seafoam, as well!), but here’s how it might look with Kona Indigo, with the feature fabrics rearranged.
The Ginkgo pattern is a nice introduction to improv quilting. The variation in the blocks gives each gingko leaf a uniqueness, just like in nature. We’re so pleased to share this newest Keephouse X 3rd Story bundle and pattern with you. We can’t wait to see what you make with it!
Is the “Fat Quarterly No. 6, from Keephouse X 3rd Story Workshop fabric” still available?
They’re all sold out, unfortunately!!
