Spoonflower’s New Quilting Cotton

Introducing Spoonflower’s newest substrate, Petal Signature Cotton™! This new quilting weight cotton is colour-fast and is easy to work with.
Pictured here is a baby version of my Striped Scallops pattern with a lively background fabric designed by yours truly.

I really like the idea of custom printed fabric, as it’s less wasteful on an industry level. The fabric is printed only in the yardage that the consumer wants. You can find all the fabrics in this quilt here.

This new cotton was developed specifically for Spoonflower’s print-on-demand service and its weight is 4.3 oz/sq yd. It’s a plain weave crafting cotton – versatile for garments, bags and other craft uses.

Its colour-fastness surprised me – I pre-washed the fabric and there was no colour difference at all between the unwashed and washed fabric.
